Extra points if exported Stata for Mac preferences could be imported into Stata for Windows. When moving into such an environment, it would be helpful to be able to export the settings from our day-to-day system and import them into the Enclave. STATA 12 PORTABLE DOWNLOAD UPGRADE
I take it that you are about to upgrade from Stata 14 to Stata 15.

Or not, the documentation doesn't seem to discuss this. Perhaps saved preference sets persist across upgrades, in which case it would be possible to restore the saved preference set after the upgrade. I note that Stata can save and restore "prefernce sets", which I have never done. Somehow, I have the feeling that Stata 16 was better about reserving preferences than earlier versions, but it took me just about forerver to find the View > Layout menu to get windows back to where I'd dragged them on Stata 15. I expect the same is true on other platforms as well.īut yes, it would be helpful if it were possible to reserve all the other settings across Stata upgrades.

When you say "user-written modules" do you mean, for example, packages installed from SSC into the PLUS directory, and ado files you have manually placed into the PERSONAL directory, as shown by the adopath command? At least on Stata for Mac, these two directories live within a directory under your home directory, and they are unchanged by installing a new version of Stata.
